Bachelorette Games for a Group That Doesn’t Know Each Other

Updated October 2026

Most bachelorette groups aren’t one group. There’s the college roommate, the sister, a coworker or two and someone from the groom’s side, and some of them are meeting for the first time in the rental kitchen.

The games below are all about the bride, since she’s the one person everyone in the room already knows. Nobody needs to know anyone else’s stories, and nobody has to get up and perform.

What works when people just met

  • Make the bride the subject. Questions about each other leave half the room guessing, but everyone has something to say about her.
  • Let people answer on their own first. It’s easier to write an answer down, or type it on a phone, than to say it out loud to people you met at check-in.
  • Mix the teams. Put a college friend, a cousin and a coworker together, or the teams will split along friend groups and stay that way all weekend.
  • Keep the stakes small. Play for points or a ridiculous title, and make sure nobody can lose badly in front of people they met yesterday.

Ideas

Five games that work

  • 1. How I met the bride. Everyone writes one sentence about how they met her on a card, with no name on it. Read them out one at a time while the room guesses who wrote each one. A mixed group learns who everyone is in about ten minutes, and the bride usually has corrections.
  • 2. Who Knows the Bride, in mixed teams. Ask the bride a list of questions ahead of time, and at the party the teams guess her answers. Pick questions about her opinions and habits rather than her history, so the people who met her last year can play as hard as her oldest friends. Our Who Knows the Bride generator will pick them for you if you set “Who’s in the room?” to “Mostly people who just met.”
  • 3. What Did the Groom Say. The groom answers questions about the bride ahead of time, usually on video, and at the party she guesses what he said. Everyone is watching the same two people, so it doesn’t matter who knows whom. Our list of 116 questions to ask the groom comes with a free generator.
  • 4. Advice for the bride. Everyone writes one piece of advice for the bride on a card, and it can be real, ridiculous or both. She reads them out and guesses who wrote each one, and she gets to keep the cards.
  • 5. Most Likely To, but later. Most Likely To needs people to know each other, so save it for the second night, when everyone has formed opinions. Our Most Likely To generator has a setting for a group that just met.

Save for the reunion

Skip these with a new group

  • Anything that makes one person perform alone, like charades or dares. Strangers freeze, and the people who already know each other end up carrying it.
  • Games built on shared history. “Remember when” rounds leave everyone who wasn’t there watching from the couch.
  • Never Have I Ever. It’s a way to find out things about people you met an hour ago that you didn’t need to know.

The game for a mixed group

A game show for a group that just met

Group Project is a bachelorette game show built from what everyone says about the bride. Before the party, each guest answers a few questions on their phone. When you set it up, you say how well the group knows each other, and for a group that just met, the questions that would have been about the group are about the bride instead. On the night, the game plays on the TV while everyone answers from their phone, and nobody has to say anything out loud.

It takes the host about ten minutes to set up from a phone. You need a TV, a phone for each person, and nothing to print.

“The bride loved it. The guests had a blast.”

Questions people ask

What’s a good icebreaker for a bachelorette where nobody knows each other?

Start with How I Met the Bride. Everyone writes down how they met her, without a name, and the room guesses who wrote each one. Ten minutes later, everyone knows who everyone is.

How do you get a mixed group to talk at a bachelorette?

Give them the one thing they have in common, which is the bride. A game about her, played in teams that mix up the friend groups, does more than any icebreaker.

Are drinking games OK with a group that just met?

Keep them optional. Some guests won’t be drinking, and nobody should have to explain why to people they met that morning. Every game on this page works without a drink in hand.

How many games should we plan?

Two or three, about 20 minutes each, with a quick icebreaker at the start.

Does Group Project work if the guests have never met?

Yes. When you set it up, you say how well the group knows each other. For a group that just met, the questions that would have been about the group go to the bride instead, so nobody needs inside jokes. It’s $35 for the whole group, and you can plan your game night here.
