Picking the bachelorette destination

How to Pick a Bachelorette Destination When the Group Can’t Agree

Updated October 2026

The group chat has been going for three weeks. Someone wants Nashville, someone found a lake house, and the bride keeps saying she’s happy with anything, which nobody counts as a vote.

Most groups get stuck because they argue about cities before they’ve agreed on money and dates. Settle those privately first, shortlist a few places that fit, let everyone make a case, and let the bride make the final call from the top three.

The survey to send first

Send this to everyone privately, before anyone mentions a city.

“Planning [Name]’s bachelorette! A few quick questions, and just reply to me. Which of these weekends work: [dates]? What can you spend all in, travel included? Can you fly, or is driving better? What’s one thing you’d love on this trip, and one thing you’d rather skip?”

The answers come to you, so nobody has to say “I can’t do Cabo” in front of the group.

Need more than five questions? Union Threads has a longer bachelorette party questionnaire, including when to keep it anonymous.

Six quick questions, three places that fit, and one you’d never have thought of.

The plan

How to pick the destination in five steps

  1. Settle money and dates before cities. Send the survey, then plan around the smallest budget and the weekends everyone can make, so nobody pitches Bali on a lake-house budget.
  2. Ask the bride what she’d love and what she’d hate. Don’t ask her to name a city yet. “Somewhere warm, and no party bus” tells you more than a list of ten places.
  3. Shortlist places that fit. Use the shortlist above, or cut anything over budget, anything that needs a passport someone doesn’t have, and anything that takes two flights to reach. Three to six options is plenty.
  4. Let everyone make a case. Give each person one sentence to pitch a place, and have the whole group score every pitch. People commit to a plan they got to argue for.
  5. Let the bride choose from the top three. The group narrows the field and she makes the final call, so the trip is hers and nobody else has to be the tiebreaker. Then tell everyone at once, with some ceremony.

Group Trip: Bachelorette

Pick the city at a game night instead

Group Trip: Bachelorette turns steps four and five into a game show. Everyone pitches a destination and one activity from their phone, the pitches go up on the TV one at a time, and everyone scores them. The top three land on a departures board, the bride picks in private, and the TV keeps her choice sealed until the end of the night.

Before the reveal, the TV hands out awards for how everyone scored, like High Maintenance for whoever gave the lowest scores. It works with everyone in one room or on a video call, and it takes about 20 minutes of game.

Questions people ask

How do you pick a bachelorette destination when the group can’t agree?

Agree on budget and dates first, privately. Then shortlist a few places that fit, let everyone pitch one in a sentence, score the pitches, and let the bride pick from the top three.

Should the bride pick the destination, or the group?

Both, in that order. The group narrows it down so nothing on the list is out of anyone’s reach, and the bride makes the final call. She gets a trip she wanted, and nobody has to overrule a friend.

What if the bride says she doesn’t care where we go?

She probably cares about a few things and doesn’t want to sound demanding. Ask what she’d love and what she’d hate, then give her three options that fit and let her choose.

How do you handle different budgets?

Ask privately, include travel, and plan around the lowest number. If that rules out the place everyone wanted, a destination you can drive to with a good house usually costs less than flights to a famous one.

How far ahead should we plan the bachelorette trip?

Pick the destination as soon as the dates are set. Big houses in popular bachelorette cities can book up months ahead, especially for spring and fall weekends.

Is there a bachelorette destination quiz for the whole group?

Most quizzes ask one person about herself. The shortlist on this page asks about the whole group, and Group Trip: Bachelorette lets everyone pitch and score the options while the bride picks from the top three.
