The origin story
Group Project started as a wildly disproportionate response. It was supposed to be a 40th birthday trip. By the time we were all pushing 42, we had five calendars, one group chat, and zero consensus. The dates were a problem. The location was worse. I love these women, and some of them are extremely high maintenance, so I did what any reasonable person would do: I hastily built an entire game show, and we threw a Zoom party to reveal the winning trip. The trip finally happened. And somewhere in there it stopped being about the trip. It was about how hard it gets to put your favorite people in one room, and how good it feels when somebody finally forces the issue.
What we believe
Most party games arrive as the main event: their own jokes, their own rules, their own personality, performed at a room full of people who already love each other. Ours works the other way. We take the funniest thing already in the room, your people and the specific stuff only this exact group finds funny, and hand it back to you with a title and an agenda. We take small, silly occasions far more seriously than anyone reasonably should. On purpose.
Where it’s going
Same idea for any group that needs a ridiculous excuse to be in a room together. Birthdays, reunions, retirements, the group chat that keeps saying “we should really hang out.”
And the original lives on as a deep cut: the Group Trip Decision Party, for any group that cannot commit to anything. Ask about it.
